Independent projects are an integral part of his work. One of his most successful independent projects is the mini-documentary Solo Twenty-Four which won an award at the Adventure Pro Film Festival and screened at the Bicycle Film Festival in NYC.
SOLO TWENTY-FOUR - (MINI DOCUMENTARY)
While working for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Rowen helped develop a unique style of editing live music for Triple J TV, cutting live performances by Lily Allen, Cold War Kids, The Shins, Silverchair and Hilltop Hoods. He further developed his own editing techniques and gained a deeper understanding of story-telling concepts while editing long-form documentaries and weekly television programs, including the ABC's flagship science program Catalyst.

His use of time-lapse photography has become a staple of his work. Many of his time-lapse sequences have featured in widespread marketing campaigns, including Canberra's own tourism brand, CBR Canberra.

Rowen's video editing background informs his approach to videography and the art of "shooting for the edit", a technique often used to make post-production more efficient. There is a second benefit; having the creative foresight to plan for specific shot sequences, camera effects and camera-focused transitions. He approaches videography with a clear understanding of editing capabilities and techniques, planning for the edit at the earliest production stages.
Rowen in now based in Canberra where he offers video production services that cover all aspects of the production process. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss your next project!
